Yeshua is Yehovah
The Lamb
in the Old Testament a lamb would be used as an offering to Yehovah. The lamb should be a year old male when making a Sin Offering, a Guilt Offering, or a Burnt Offering. Offerings stemmed back to Cain and Abel when 'Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flocks.
The Hebrew word 'Pesaḥ', or 'Pesach' means to pass over.
Exodus 12 - The Passover was when Yehovah passed through Egypt killed every firstborn - man and animal. Those that put the blood of the Passover Lamb on their door frame would be saved.
Yehovah brought judgement on those that were not protected by the blood of the lamb.
"The Lamb" was never a name attributed to Yehovah in the Old Testament - but without the lamb there was no salvation from death. If they did not put the blood of the lamb on their door frame the firstborn male would die.
In the Old Testament it was the blood of the lamb that saved the people of Israel from death during the Passover - Yehovah passed-over those that were protected by the blood of the lamb - and they retained their life.
The cost of sin was always going to be death, but the blood of the lamb protected God's people from death.
This event is celebrated - a seven day festival called The Feast of Unleavened Bread .
So it is with the death of Yeshua - he was the Lamb of God, the lamb without blemish, the lamb that protects from death when death knocks at your door. Faith in the Lamb gives life eternal. Without this ultimate sacrifice there would be no eternal life for anyone - no one goes to the Father except through the Son. There is no other sacrifice that grants such access - access we do not deserve, but is freely given. That is what 'grace' is - being given something for free that we really don't deserve!
Yeshua, Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world - who clothes us in a garment of salvation and a robe of his righteousness - who removes our sin as far as the east is from the west - without this ultimate Lamb sacrifice there is no eternal life for mankind.
He was not just a man, He was not an angelic being, He was Yehovah come down to earth to be the perfect sacrifice, without blemish, for all sins.
Emunah!
